R.I.P. JOE COCKER

Joe Cocker was a bluesy-rock singer who was born in Yorkshire, England on May 20th, 1944. He was particularly known for his soulful interpretations of other artists’ songs, including “Unchain My Heart”, “The Letter”, “With a Little Help from My Friends”, and today’s song choice (that can be listened to by clicking on the provided link).

In 1983, he won a Grammy Award for his song “Up Where We Belong” (a duet with Jennifer Warnes), and in 2008, Rolling Stone magazine included him on its list of the “100 Greatest Singers of All-Time”.

On this very day, December 22nd 2014, John Robert Cocker died from lung cancer (at 70 years of age). In memory of his passing, exactly 10 years ago today, I’ve chosen a classic ballad that is considered by many as one of the greatest love songs of all-time.
